Six moods live inside this mystery box: a grumpy orange, a sleepy green, a beaming blue, a heart-eyed pink, a giggling purple and a laughing lime. Every dumpling is pleated the same way and topped with white brushstroke stripes, but which face waits underneath is picked at random, so no two unboxings feel the same.

The white streaks are sealed under the glossy skin rather than painted on top, so they stretch when you squeeze and snap back sharp instead of cracking or fading. At 8cm, the pleated dumpling fills your hand and settles back into shape slowly and quietly, whether you're squeezing it at a desk or passing it round a classroom.

Line the face cards up before you dive in: five expressions turn up regularly and the laughing lime is the rare pull, which is what turns unboxing into a bit of a hunt for doubles to trade.

Good to know before you buy a surprise dumpling squishy

Each box contains 1 mystery squishy dumpling (design revealed on unboxing, duplicates possible) plus 1 mini steamer basket in bamboo-style plastic. The squishy measures 8cm and is made from TPR, PP, PU and plastic, so a wipe with a damp cloth is all it needs. It's suited to ages 3 and over, and if the face you unwrap isn't the one you were hoping for, you've still got 30 days to return it.
